The programmable USB gadget Nearly every USB product that you buy today can only be used for one purpose - a memory stick is just a memory stick, a serial to USB adapter is just a serial to USB adapter - you get the idea. But now that's all changed because Cat's Whisker Technologies have developed a USB product which is programmable. That means you can change it from one kind of device to another in seconds. You can either download our own applications onto the USB Utility or if you're an advanced user you can even write your own. The choice is yours!

One Product - Many Uses! The USB Utility consists of a USB port and a standard four-way 3.5mm jack socket (the same type you find on an iPhone) which can be programmed to provide one input and one output plus a power source. This means that this simple unit can be programmed to become an interface for any number of projects. The USB Utility also provides indicator LEDs to allow you to see what is going on with the various signal lines. The USB Utility has been carefully designed to ensure that it is electronically robust and will not be harmed easily by incorrect connection. It also provides protection for the PC to ensure that the computer's power supply is not overloaded and that accidental reverse polarity will not damage it. To get you going we have developed some applications (see here) which you can program onto the USB Utility.
